Sixth Season of Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter now in full swing!

The sixth season of Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter began last night at the Louisbourg Playhouse. The all-new production features the talents of Adam Young, Andrew Tyne, Colin Grant, Eric Angus Whyte, Meaghan Grant, and Michelle Mills, and will run every weeknight until 31 August. The cast will be celebrating their 300th performance at the Louisbourg Playhouse in mid-August—stay tuned for more details! To celebrate the new season, a redesigned website will be launched shortly—please check back early next week for updates!
Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter nominated for an East Coast Music Award!

The nominations for the 2007 East Coast Music Awards were announced at Halifax's Marquee Club on 11 December 2006. Among the sixteen nominations for Cape Breton this year are Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter for Roots/Traditional Group Recording of the Year, and current Lyrics & Laughter cast member Colin Grant for his self-titled debut CD in the Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year! Also included in this year's nominees is Jennifer Roland's For Each New Day. Jennifer was a cast member of Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter in the 2005 season, and is nominated for Instrumental Recording of the Year.
The 2007 East Coast Music Awards will be held from 15-18 February 2007 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with the gala awards show to be broadcast on CBC Television on Sunday 18 February 2007 at 8:00 in all time zones.

Cape Breton Lyrics and Laughter is a light-hearted look at life in Cape Breton through music and song. Similar in format to the Cape Breton Summertime Revue, it provides audiences with an entertaining and heart-warming look at Cape Breton Island's rich culture, presented by six of the brightest talents on the Island.
Recently completing their fifth season at the Louisbourg Playhouse, Cape Breton Lyrics and Laughter has delighted audience members from around the globe.
The intimate atmosphere of the Louisbourg Playhouse is the perfect backdrop for such a show, and provides the opportunity for an unforgettable evening of entertainment the whole family can enjoy!

What's new
Cape Breton Lyrics & Laughter is proud to present their debut recording, which was officially released in conjunction with the opening night of their fifth season on June 26th, 2006. The album was recorded at Soundpark Studios in Coxheath, Nova Scotia, and features thirteen tracks representing the best of Lyrics & Laughter's music from the first five seasons. Featured on the recording are several songs from this year's production, including "The Miner's Song", fiddle sets "Combined Effort" and "The Beaton Track", well-known favourites such as "Loch Lomond" and "You'll Be Home Again", and the closing set from the 2006 production, "The Last Blast". Of course, the set also includes a cover of the Sons of Maxwell's "Oceanside Again", a song which has bookended every Lyrics & Laughter performance for four years. The recording is available at the Louisbourg Playhouse gift shop, online at the Castlebay Music Online Store, and can also be found at several local retailers, including the Cape Breton Curiosity Shop on Charlotte St. in Sydney, the Gaelic College in St. Ann's, Charlie's Music in Cheticamp, the Celtic Music Interpretive Center in Judique, and Music World at the Mayflower Mall in Sydney.
